I know of the Tower, Jack the Ripper, Pirates and so forth.... but why is it the scariest place on earth. Is it the cold environment, or more? It was named this on the Histories Mysteries Channel.

Because it has been inhabited for so long its got centuries of culture, wars, legends and so on. Old places tend to have plenty of stories around them.

I would assume it is because there is so much history. The older a place seems to be the better the chance of it being haunted.

maybe the most dopes on dope there?

sorry, i don't mean it as a 'politically incorrect' thing, but maybe the channel you mentioned lacks information. or, let me guess - is it a brit station?

your first answerer also made me laugh - there are places with older traditions and habits than england.
    maybe less public relations, tho'.

I would say that it really should be the British Isles & Ireland rather than just England. All of them are swarming with ghosts! Some have suggested it is because of our 'celtic' or pre-celtic heritage; that such people are closer to the 'spirit world' and hence can sense ghosts more easily.
